Current Initiatives

  • Organizing a 25th Anniversary Celebration to take place at Harvard over the weekend of September 26-28, 2008.
  • Raising $1.5 million to endow the F.O. Matthiessen Visiting Professorship in Gender & Sexuality.
  • Encouraging academic study at Harvard of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender life. Supporting the newly-established, degree granting Women, Gender & Sexuality studies program at the College.
  • Supporting students in a summer project that benefits the GLBT community with the HGLC Public Service Fellowship, which awards financial support to an outstanding student of any school of Harvard University.
  • Supporting The Open Gate Foundation, A Fund for Gay & Lesbian Life at Harvard University, which raises and makes grants of more than $20,000 annually.
  • Encouraging the creation and growth of local chapters of the Caucus and networking among College classmates and graduates from particular graduate and professional schools.
  • Insisting the University not bring back the ROTC program until the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," and urging the University to support its repeal.
  • Working with the University to fully implement its policy on non-discrimination with regard to gender identity.
  • Electing openly gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender alumni/ae to the Board of Directors of the Harvard Alumni Association and to the Board of Overseers of Harvard University.
  • Sponsorship and support of the Gay and Lesbian Review, a bi-monthly review of literature and ideas.
